ZEDD – SLAM THE DOOR (OWSLA) *#1 ON BEATPORT*

ZEDD – SLAM THE DOOR
(OWS008 – OWSLA)
Release Date: Out now

OWSLA aren’t wasting any time in kicking off the new year with a bang. Returning to the label following his ‘Shave It’ single last year, Zedd brings more firepower as he unleashes ‘Slam The Door’. Going straight into the overall Beatport charts at #4 and quickly rising to the summit at #1, the track has already taken a firm hold of its audience.

With ‘Slam The Door’ the young German producer delivers a typically powerful dance floor track that speaks volumes about his rapid ascent through the ranks. Brought into life by the galloping snares and whirring sfx, a euphoric breakdown crescendoes in a neck snapping rhythm as the snares work in tandem with the gritty bass hits for maximum impact. Accompanied by the tongue-in-cheek vocal sample, razor sharp synth injections and bass glitches, this is made to do some serious damage.

Having come out of the blocks all guns blazing in 2011 with a rapidfire release schedule that took in Porter Robinson, M Machine, KOAN Sound and Kill The Noise as well as Zedd, the OWSLA label has quickly established itself at the forefront of the latest generation of EDM Music. Now, dropping their first release of 2012, Skrillex and the ever-expanding crew aren’t letting up for a second.

Introducing Zeds Dead – DC & Hooks the rising superstar duo from Toronto, Canada. Straight off the back of a 70 date US Tour they deliver the Adrenaline EP via Inspected Records.

Having Blue Foundation’s ‘Eyes on Fire’ remix under their belts Zeds Dead have become the single most viewed artist on the YouTube channel UKF Dubstep. Off the cusp of their UKF success – the duo went intergalactic in 2011 with their music being regularly featured in sets from Diplo, Rusko, Skrillex, Bass Nectar, Kissy Sell Out and many more. With releases on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label and Diplo’s Mad Decent outlet, it is clear that this is production partnership is exceedingly in demand.

In The Beginning dives into an experimental and futuristic soundscape conveying a Bladerunner-esque intro. The track explodes into a classic dubbed-out bass line that organically progresses into electrifying stabs, which are followed by a choral lead that truly makes it a Zeds Dead anthem.

Following the obliterating introduction, dance floor thriller Adrenaline brings abrasive and heavily distorted bass fluctuations to a dancehall snare ridden beat. The rising synthesis puts this track in its own league and rightfully so delivers sonic destruction at its finest.

Hit Me commences with a curious shuffled drum selection which lunges into an electric arpeggiator, accompanied by female vocal stabs that shatter into a minimal jazzed-up bass line as the track plunges back into its shuffle beat. As the outro arrives, horns provide summer ambiences that make this track entirely unprecedented.

The EP polishes off on a supernova of euphoria delivered in the form of Oh No. This masterwork commences with a dark soundscape that gently evolves into a soft build that pours into wide band of unison synthesis, united by a timeless vocal stab. Zeds Dead’s signature distorted sound imposes itself on the unison to create an enraptured wall of sound, concluding the perfect finale to the Adrenaline EP.
